Emotional Design: Why We Love (or Hate) Everyday Things
I have just attended a lecture purely on why we love or hate everyday objects, some interesting comments where made and my eyes are truly wider after this one. Form function or simply just prescence.
Form is the obvious one but what forms do we warm to more often, studies show that curved soft floating forms, ideally the circle is the perfect form and the one that makes us warm and fuzzy inside will always refer to this basic principle.
Function is critical and all good design just works it performs it's duty seemlessly and hides all technical aspects, apple technologies is a beautiful example of this.
Product prescence and reputition is a human sub conscious way of warmer to something, through familiarity we feel most comfortable, like turning up to the same work place each and everyday we feel comfortable much like Bering in contact with familiar products or ways we interact with them draws us closer to them. State of design
After a few days off from posting, I have had time to think and collect my thoughts. I have a new outlook I would like to share about being a designer and time management.
Outsourcing from as many different angles as possible. My initial thoughts on this is great, if I'm not doing the work and someone is doing it for me I will have more free time or more time to invest in research or new content. There is floors in this process as much as there are huge benefits. With quality control you must very careful with who you use to represent what you do, if done incorrectly or you fail to employ the right person for your business this could destroy your reputation. So you may ask how do you get this right? I'll reveal all in the next post. So for now happy designing. Dh
